It was a pretty big plothole, haha, especially since basically the one thing the medpod couldn't do was an abortion. I mean, it makes sense so we could have the scene with the self-done c-section, but it was a pretty big plothole. I get WHY it was calibrated for men (Weyland) but really, why couldn't it have been calibrated for both men and women?

I liked the movie, though.

It was my impression just that it was specifically set up for Weyland. It could handle both male and female, it was just set up for a specific person. I think this whole 'calibrated for men' thing...while..technically correct..?...just throws people off.

ohh, that makes a lot more sense. For some reason I had it in my brain that the machine was only built for a man, as opposed to just being calibrated just for Weylaned.

The reason you thought that is it was said in the movie "calibrated for men".
It was badly written, and the only excuse for it is because they wanted more gore.
