I have one friend who used to be a tomboy, but then began to dress up extremely feminine in their teens. And then when they became an adult they became FtM. Turns out, by dressing up feminine he was trying to cope with his situation and was over-compensating, big time. He also wanted to prove to himself that just because he dressed like a real lady, it didn't make him any less of a man.

Personally, I don't think Takatsuki will "change" his mind just like that, but we'll see. So far the author has been very sensitive about all kinds of issues dealing with one's sexuality. I have high hopes.
