I mean, compare Superhero Squad to Brave and the Bold. Both going for the same demographic, but one of them did it without ever talking down to that demographic, and made it something that everyone could enjoy.

Brave and the Bold was awesome, IMO, but then the DCAU has had a lot longer to build up and establish themselves. They actually took their animation department seriously, and that resulted in the awesome that was B:TAS and Superman. That gave them their building blocks. Marvel just has yet to have anything even remotely comparable to build on.
But Marvel got their act together for their movies, whereas DC has lost their mojo. The only good ones that have been made in recent memory are Nolan's Batverse. (Superman Returns sucked monkey tails)
