Guys, I think everyone is getting a little ahead of themselves and getting pissed at Shimura Takako before this storyline is even resolved. We don't know yet how Takatsuki will end up. It is possible that he/she may find happiness in being female, it's possible that this is just a phase/experimentation with feminine presentation, or maybe he/she will discover that it's ok to be a femme guy if that's how he/she identifies... and there's also the genderqueer/whatever-non-binary-idendity option. But lately I just see so many people DESPERATE and ANGRY about the possibility of Takatsuki actually being OKAY with being a girl. I know trans*men are pretty underrepresented in media, but if that's not the story that the author intends to tell, I think we all ought to read into and accept the recent developments, instead of freaking out and questioning the quality of the work because things didn't go as you hoped. This is a possible development, it's something that does happen in real life, and doesn't mean anyone Shimura Takako is "backing out" of anything.

Word. Geez, I hate gender issues and this manga has been getting my nerves or maybe its the whole fandom. Maybe if this took place when they were a little bit older I could follow the characters a lot more. I think this manga is about coming to find who you really are, not about "Oh, I want to be this one thing and that's all this story is going to be about!"
