Honestly? I have endometriosis and a lot of the stuff they'll give you for the extremely painful cramping that comes with it is even more debilitating than the cramps themselves. It makes the pain go away but I'm high as a kite for the next twelve hours after I take the medicine. Which also kind of gets in the way of being a badass assassin (or in my case, not-so-badass bank clerk).

If you can fight through the pain with just ibuprofen/naproxen sodium/acetaminophen and a heating pad it's a lot better than taking the hardcore meds for it. Other meds work, but you're loopier than a pretzel for the rest of the day.

Loopier than pretzel does not make for a good crime fighter, I would think. Sorry about what you go through though. That sounds pretty awful.

No, but I would totally read a comic where that was a thing that was happening. As in, a hero getting used to new meds. Sounds like something from the Tick.
