Oh, thought you did. Silly brain.

I...really find that an odd reason for not watching a movie/reading a book. She has a perfectly legitimate reason for using a bow and arrow. Using a sword would just not *work* with the plot. It'd be like not watching a King Arthur movie because there were no women knights.

Well, it was one of the reasons. Another reason was I read some spoilers for how the series ends, and apparently she winds up married with kids, and I just hate how common that seems to be for heroines, since it seems a lot less common a reward for male main characters.

Plus, I heard it has shaky cam, and I threw up the last time I watched a movie with shaky cam.

I felt like the married with kids thing was handled well, actually, since it's not a totally happily ever after thing.

Shaky cam, otoh, is an excellent reason not to watch a movie.

To each their own. I liked the series, and didn't feel the ending was any sort of 'and now we squish Katniss into this mold!' sort of ending. But that's me.

I'm totally with you on shaky!cam - i get motion sickness in a rocking chair. I didn't have any issues with this movie, though.

If you have issues with shaky cam I'd suggest avoiding the movie. I rarely get sick at movies, but I tried going to see Hunger Games twice and both times I got too sick to make it through the whole movie (first time I made it about 45 minutes before running to the bathroom to throw up, second time I downed a few aspirin beforehand and made through nearly the whole movie but I kept having to close my eyes and felt pretty miserable the whole time. Stinkin' shaky cam).
