Beats me. vov Some vanity/beautiful women who know they're beautiful is/are evil thing, probably.

But in this specific case, it's when you kidnap a baby and keep her locked up, scared of the outside world, with low self-esteem, intending to keep this charade FOREVER, that you cross the line.

I wonder what would have happened if Flynn hadn't showed up. Would Rapunzel have grown old in that tower? What would Gothel have done when Rapunzel died of old age? Would Rapunzel had stayed young thanks to the magic?

I feel like those are the only two in Disney canon. Plus the Snow White one was kind of integral to the original story. "Fairest of them all," and all that.

Anyways, Gothel didn't just want the flower because it kept her ~young and beautiful~ or whatever. It was actually the only thing keeping her alive. I saw Gothel's obsession with the flower as less about her wanting to be ~beautiful~ and more about her just being completely unable to accept her own death. Which I personally think is a better motivation than just, "WHY CAN'T I BE A HOTTIE ANYMORE?! >:("
