It's funny cause that bow icon reminds me of Fire Emblem, and tons of female characters in that use swords, spears, and knives--some even axes. Hell, there's plenty of female fist/claw fighters when you start factoring in laguz, and most of the games have that overpowering dragon-transforming girl, too. (Thinking specifically of Fa and Myrrh, actually.)

Mostly other people have covered other things I was thinking of. I know you said movies, but they're really a good tracker of 'symptoms of the problem' were it actually a problem.
