Nonsense. I'm a fat chick, I've been the same weight since college, and my pain level has gone from "OMFG let me lie down NOW" to "hmm, that feels funny" to "I have a mild tension headache, except it's in my uterus somehow" over the last fifteen years. One of my friends who is a long-distance runner has never been less than "double over in pain for the first 36 hours." In both of our cases, the only things that have caused predictable changes are being on the Pill or on Depo, and our levels of sexual activity. (Neither of us have given birth, but I have one friend who was thin and had awful cramps before having her first kid, and afterwards was of middling weight and had significantly fewer menstrual issues.)

Different bodies react to physical and hormonal changes, including but not limited to weight gain/loss, very differently. And not everyone can safely use tampons. Just sayin'.
