Okay, so you aren't reading stories because you enjoy them on their merits, you are reading stories because the writer is someone who you approve of as a person? I suppose that must give you a kind of a righteous rush, getting to bestow upon the worthy your approval -- but it kind of misses the point of entertainment.

Kind of reminds me of the logic a friend of mine used when she left the salt out of her cookies, because "salt is bad for you."

we do need salt in our diet

a little

probably less than most people consume

but we totally need the sodium

Er, it's cookies. They are like a typical non-healthy food all by itself, no salt necessary.

Actually, the salt is necessary. Cookies without salt don't taste nearly as good, and why the hell would you eat cookies if not to eat something that tastes good?

It's especially bewildering since she was making cookies, which aren't exactly supposed to health-food. But she felt very righteous doing it, even though she was essentially being rediculous and cutting off her own nose.
