TMI: I get - I wouldn't call them cramps, even, that's too mild a world and implies occasional contractions. But it feels like I've got a really bad fever and have just lost half the blood in my body, and it's made me throw up, pass out, and spend literally hours in the bathroom on the edge of delerium because it hurts so badly. Luckily, my period's not usually that bad, and I can tell if it's going to be a bad one so I can head it off with acetaminophen, but if I don't catch it in time there is literally nothing that can stop it other than waiting for the worst to pass and then sleeping it off.

I tried to power through it one time and that led to surprise vomiting and me thinking it was a good idea to thwack my head against the sink to distract me from the pain, and I wound up at home in bed anyway with a bruised forehead on top of everything. I think even if somebody were trying to kill me while my body was doing this shit, I wouldn't be able to concentrate on them for long enough to care. (Of course, there are many other reasons why I wouldn't make a good superheroine but that is one of them.)
