I don't even think it's just the squeeing. I tend to associate weeaboos with affectations--like thinking it's cute or cool to lard your conversation and your writing with random Japanese words and phrases, or stick Japanese honorifics onto people's names. (When my ex-boyfriend started calling me Magi-chan, it was the beginning of the end for us.) There are probably a few Americans who are way too into British fandoms who affect an English accent (or what they think is an English accent), English spellings, and English usages like "flat" and "torch," etc. And I'm sure it's just as exasperating, not so much because of cultural appropriation as because it's affected and pretentious.
