Hullo! There are two parts to this post. The first comes today, the next tomorrow. The request was for things that were so ugly they're adorable- I'm sort of trying to get at that, or posting animals that are definitely not regarded by most people as cute. Maybe some of them will be to you? Maybe some won't- either way, it's worth a shot! I'll be giving a picture of the adult animals and the baby ones. Do check both of them out- especially for the birds!

The adults look like... well, 'odd' is one way of putting it. I've always seen the babies as little watermelon things with faces and paws, though!

From the source: Three Black Palm Cockatoos siblings, a 3-months old, left, 2-months old, right, and 23-days old are displayed to the media at the Jurong Bird Park in Singapore on Dec. 20, 2010. Black Palm Cockatoos are being bred as part of the Bird Parks on-going birdlife conservation program and it is the first time the park has hatched 3 birds in consecutive months.

It's a Kea parrot chick! That has sadly been described as being a cross between an alien and a roast chicken. Trust me, this is not the ugliest picture of it there was. There is uglier.

On the other hand, what it grows up to be... well, check it out!

Now this tiny pgymy falcon isn't much to look at, and it doesn't really grow up large, either. But when it does, it's definitely incredibly adorable! One of the cutest birds of prey there is.

BONUS ALPACA FASHION DISASTERS

Alpacas are actually pretty cute normally, but these guys...

And of course...

Spider!

This guy is absolutely for real. It's scientific name is Ephebopus cyanognathus, but more commonly goes by the much cooler title of Blue Fang Skeleton Tarantula. Why Blue Fang? Well, that's because when it grows up, it lookslike this-

Unlike many other spiders, they really like to burrow and don't go up in trees at all. This makes them less impressive as pets- sure, they look cool! But they're shy things, and more often than not will be hiding inside their little dirt homes that they've built for themselves.

Also- I know there are people who read this who might be scared of spiders. This post, and this comment in particular might be good reading if you're looking to find out more or maybe figure out how you could be more comfortable around them! It's got cute pictures and video links as well, and isn't very long to read. Do give it a go. (:

The end of these posts are such a cockpunch. Delightful, delightful, delightful... then, goddamn motherfucking spiders every time!

At this point I'm pretty used to it, and sometimes they even look pretty, but I just can't find them adorable or cute. ;_; And I try so hard.

Yes, I'm ashamed of myself, especially considering I used to love spiders as a kid.

I love the llama haircut pictures. Aardvarks have really cool paws and make me remember that episode of Arthur where Aardvark is his word for the spelling bee(?).

Also, I didn't know baby Tapirs were spotted. I almost always learn something new on these posts.

The Tapirs are just adorable, Especially the small striped one!

Back when I was in undergrad, I shadowed a zoo keeper for a day and got to interact with many insanely awesome critters. One of them was a baby aardvark, who was extremely affectionate and excitable, scampered around like some sort of demented bunny-rhino-puppy, and used me as a stepladder.

I remember that bird and aww I wish people were less critical of its looks. :c It's baby bird, gais!

I love the spiders this time around because they kinda look like they have nail polish on or smth.

I love that you included tapirs! I was thinking about requesting tapir pics a few weeks back, because the babies especially can be really cute. I never got around to commenting, though.

That final spider picture - looks as if a little old man's mustachioed face is captured in the spider. It makes her look cuter/stranger. But I love the coloring so much!

Oooh and have wombats come up yet? I'd like to see them here someday. Maybe even a series on marsupials because marsupials are cool like that. :D
