It seems like an insult to the people who actually did and continue to do real work, and a rather weird way of forcing a label on people.
If someone said she doesn't identify as a feminist but does identify as a womanist, would you say "Same diff, you are what I call you?"

Yes.
movement hope to gain from fellow "feminists" who never plan to do much of anything other than occasionally notice some sexist thing.
Why does that matter? Can't you just be a feminist, disabled-rights activist, etc, because you think it's the right thing to do, and not worry about what you're getting out of it from other people?
It seems like an insult to the people who actually did and continue to do real work
