I don't buy that idea in the first place. The only evidence we have for humanity not being able to advance without magical girls is Kyuubey saying so, and he just spent the whole series consistently underestimating and misunderstanding humanity.

So that basically undermines the whole reason magical girls can't be gotten rid of "because then humanity would still be in caves".
