I'm glad that the girls found a place to stay and seem to be alright but I always wonder why people in situations like this never seem to consider going to a Hostel. I mean they're cheap and basically everywhere in big cities.

Though it's amazing how awesome the powers of the Internet are :D

I think it's basically because they have luggage... So they run the risk of having their stuff stolen in hostels. Though I doubt that's very likely, I guess I'd be paranoid too if I'd just been cheated out of lodgings.

True xD I actually had a lock with me for my bag with which I chained it to the bed at night and when I was out. But I was the only one doing that, most people had their stuff just lying around, including valuables, evne in rooms with eight people.

In general I was pretty lucky with hostels and found that most of them are really nice places to stay, some of them even offer lockers for your things.

Indeed; I stayed in a hostel in Paris, actually, and it was a SUPER nice room! I stayed with other people from my study abroad group and kept my valuables with me, but it was a really decent experience.

I also stayed in a hostel in Cardiff and it was SUPER nice, and I stayed with two lovely people for the two nights I was there. Conversely I had an awful experience when I was in York, because the room was kind of iffy and I stayed in a room with super noisy people who came back at 2:30 AM wasted and then two of them had sex right then and I was like "OK then.." trying to get back to sleep with that.

But as a student traveler, hostels are pretty good. Even though I had a bad experience in York, the hostel did let me leave my luggage in a locked room, which was helpful.

But if they did have Luggage, they wouldn't have had to worry about their belongings.

If only sapient pearwood existed in this world...

*shrug* I've stayed at multiple hostels in four different countries with luggage, and that's including valuables like my laptop and camera. Most places will have a secure lock-up area.

That's what I was thinking, but it was probably more that they couldn't speak the language and it was getting pretty dark and late.
