Yeah; being willing to do things that are abnormal to the rest of society's standards, especially to protect your family or own life, is something I get.

I remember feeling so disconnected in college, sitting among all of these kids whining about having to stack shoes for 8-hours in an air conditioned store for $10 an hour. And various and sundry other petty shit.

Some of the shit I've done to help my family's work would probably make most people gag. I'm not proud of it, but it's who I am.

If you can believe it, I actually told fortunes and did henna tattoos from the time I was 14. People are always willing to buy a stereotype, and pay too much for it.

I know what you mean. It's so strange, to be surrounded by these people who avoid their parents' calls, and whine about their siblings. They have so much stuff, too, and they want to complain to me about family and money. Me, a scholarship kid who checks the phone obsessively to see if anyone has called me. I just don't understand them.

Ahaha legit, man.

God I know. I used to check my phone constantly, because my parents had such a limited amount of time they could talk to me since they worked literally about 17 hours a day. People will probably think I'm lying or exaggerating; I'm not.

But what I did growing up, and still do to help my folks when I come home for a bit, really shaped my future choices. It probably will for you, too. What it made you, and how it set you apart, will benefit you. It did me.
