It might have just happened at the right time for it to have a huge impact on you, anon. And I use "right time" very loosely here, because unless you're a complete monster, there's never a right time for a suicide.

Sometimes, we're more open to tragedy hitting home with us, especially if there's seemingly no explanation for it. Maybe it was just that, for you.

I agree. The same thing happened to me when Stephen Gately died. I wasn't a fan, I didn't even know anything about him, but I cried so hard and for a long time when he died. I think it was because I was diagnosed with cancer shortly after and it just made me extra emotional/vulnerable.

I first learned about Park Yong Ha's suicide when his death was posted at omonatheydidnt. And it made me cry. And I wasn't even a fan because I didn't know his work. But I read about how before he committed suicide, he felt overwhelmed by the multiple hardships and depression in his life.

After reading your secret, I'm going to say a prayer for him.

I didn't cry or mourn my grandparents when they died, and I loved them dearly. They raised me along with my parents, so they were important to me.

On the flip-side, when the mother of one of my friends, who I wasn't even that close to, died, I cried for days.

Emotions are strange, OP. Don't feel bad about something that you aren't even controlling.
