Be patient, OP. Depending on how she's handled in S5, she may yet end up labelled a Mary Sue. Fandom will turn on her in heartbeat if she's paired up with Gwaine, and I've seen at least one photo from the set that hints this might well be the case.

Out of interest, what was the photo?

Mithian was on horseback in the courtyard and Gwaine looked as though he was helping her get on. They were exchanging words while smiling at each other and looked a bit flirty. It could be nothing. However, there was a recent interview with the writers that said (paraphrasing): "fans of Mithian will be pleased with what happens to her in series 5." Knowing them, hooking her up with a hot knight would qualify - especially since she got rejected the first time around.
