Borra is actually the Zutara 2.0. Giving Bolin way too much backstory that never actually happened in the show (He's hurting on the inside! No one has ever been able to crack him but Korra!) Despite the fact he -never- shows romantic interest for Korra past ep5, Borra shippers post random faces or interpretations of how he's still silly to Korra (He's silly to everyone, but okay) to mean he's still pinning for her. I love how he states in.the.damn.show that he's over it.

It's even more hilarious that Borra shippers, at least a lot of them, are kataang/maiko shippers. Some BNFs, even. That tore Zutara shippers apart for the same behavior they're doing now.

hmm. i agree with irony of canon purist shippers from atla disliking the legit canon couple of LoK, but I don't think the borra comparison to zutara really fits, because bolin actually did show a romantic interest in korra, while zuko never did for katara.

It does fit. They're writing huge essays on why this look or that line meant Bolin was still madly in love with/hiding away a deep, tortured pain over Korra. They cap random looks and point "see/? See!" while Bolin shows no interest in korra romantically past ep5, and says that he's over the crush in ep nine. He didn't even seem to be all that upset that Korra was missing, and possibly dead, either.

I don't ship Borra, but you've got to admit there's wayyy more canon evidence that Bolin still likes Korra (he was really enamored with her for the first few episodes), versus Zuko liking Katara.

There...isn't actually o_O Past episode five he shows no romantic interest in her, at all. No more flowers, or talks about how pretty/powerful/amazing she is. She just does cutesy oneliners at her, which he does to everyone else. And when she was kidnapped he was kind of "okay, lets go" He wasn't upset, at all. And I'm not saying he should have been Mako level upset, but hell, for someone supposedly so in love with someone, he sure...doesn't act like he cares about her.

I honestly think it was just a crush on his end. And in canon, he states, he's -over it- :P

2 or 3 episodes of Bolin showing romantic interest in Korra is still more than 0 episodes of Zuko showing interest in Katara (and vice versa).

I'm sorry, but at least Borra shippers have some canon they can use to back their ship up. Zuko and Katara hardly even interacted until the very end of the show.

In the context of over-the-top, looking-way-too-much-into-things, capping random looks, and way out of left field interpretations out of their asses...yeah, Borra is still Zutara 2.0 of the Korra series.

Sucks being on that side of the fence now, I guess?

And the crazy speculation happens to every non-canon pairing. If Zutara was canon in AtLA, then Kataang fans would be the ones being obsessive. But since they had actual canon material to work with, they didn't need to.

I don't ship Borra, but at least there was a canon basis for Bolin's feelings at one point in the show. You can't say the same for Zuko or Katara.
