I don't mean to be rude, OP - but have you actually SEEN this fandom?

We're talking about people that slut-shamed Guinevere for flirting with more than one man over the course of three years, poured vitriol on Freya’s head when she appeared in all of ONE episode as a love interest for Merlin, fawned over the non-threatening Princess Elena before promptly flooding the actress’s Twitter with hate when it became apparent that she was dating Bradley James, accused the writers of homophobia when they introduced Tristan and Isolde, and obnoxiously celebrates whenever there’s an episode that doesn’t feature Morgana or Guinevere.

The latest news is that apparently Bradley and Angel are scheduled for a photo-shoot together. Here are some delightful Tweets that have been sent to the organiser:

Yeah. Call it a hunch, but I have a funny feeling that if the Gwaine/Mithian rumour is true, these people will go ape-shit.

I'm a slasher, sure, but I love Gwen (she's the only Guinevere adaptation I've ever loved), liked Mithian and Freya when they were there, always have Morganna and Morgause feels, etc. I did NOT know Merlin fandom was this bad. o.O

As sexist and presumptuous as it makes me sound, it's junk like this that makes me wary of fandoms with a huge population of heterosexual fangirls orz
The slut shaming, the raging over characters getting in the way of their favorite Gary Stu... Yeah.

and just for fairness fairness assuming the worst, the alarming number of misogynerds is what also make me wary of dude heavy gaming fandoms

Oh, I remember that whole "the writers have a heterosexual agenda" accusation when Tristan and Isolde were introduced. That was one of the oddest things I've ever seen. Because of COURSE the writers are bringing in Tristan/Isolde for the sole purpose of making a statement directed against the slash-fans. It's not like they're just two familiar characters from the Arthurian legends that the writers found time/opportunity to introduce as guest-stars for a couple of episodes.

Personally, I think fandom can call Gwen a Sue all they like – I’m just grateful that there’s at least ONE main character on the show who ISN’T a mass murderer or an unrepentant killer or has the blood of innocent people on her hands.

Or in Mithian’s case, someone who shoots at baby deer and bets money on hitting them. (I liked her up till then!)
