(Anonymous) 2012-07-06 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)Consider that medication has probably helped many artists to not kill themselves, and probably helped careers be longer than they would otherwise have been by virtue of helping the artists to stop dying.

Because while of course depression can be so debilitating that it's impossible to create at all, art, or at least the kind of art that relies on ideas rather than just craft, rarely, if ever, comes from a state of happiness and peace of mind.
