Me too. :(
Depression made me stop doing anything creative.
And now it's really hard to get back into it.

Honestly, I just can't understand how some creators can do more while they're depressed. When I hit my lows I hardly have the motivation to do anything let alone be creative. It's when my mood lifts that it's like... OMG, everything is good again and I can create all the things, watch me go! I mean, I'm still lazy sometimes during that and don't actually get that much done, but it's certainly more than the utter nothingness of when I'm depressed.

Same here. The only times that negative emotions actually helped me be creative were when I was furious at the world. Bam! Art all over the place. But it's not healthy and the quality isn't as good as the art I make when I'm happy. c:

In my case, I hit a holding pattern in which most of my motivation dropped off into the abyss, but I still had the drive to create in the hopes that it'd help me feel less empty and pointless. So I could spend all day writing, but I might not be bothered to shower or eat for several days at a time.

Of course, it didn't last, shit got worse, and now that I'm out of it I wouldn't want that back for the world, even if being out of the depressive spiral means I'm spending less time wrapped up entirely in my own head, and thus less time inventing new worlds. Especially since there's no guarantee I'd end up in the same headspace if my neurochemistry went off the rails again - not everyone suffers depressive episodes in the same way, and even the same person might not have the exact same symptoms twice.
