*butting in* My dad was obsessed with the idea that I *NOT* join the Navy(most likely because he watched too much JAG), but he said nothing about the other branches. But I was never really interested in the Army; too boring(no offense to Army fans!). The Marines was my other choice, but I decided that the Air Force would be a better fit.

My grandfather is a Vietnam veteran who served in the Navy, and he sulked for a week after I decided on the Air Force. He was very disappointed in me.

I have a great uncle who's a Navy vet and he's always trying to sell me on the Navy, but as much as I love ships and water and I'm sure becoming a Navy pilot would open a lot of doors...I'm just not crazy about wearing dress whites. :P

My mom is a diehard Marine wife (weird because he left when I was two) and I think she would disown me if I went Navy. I made a joke about it once and her face terrified me.

I don't know why, but I was just never interested in the Navy. My brother is probably gonna join the Navy(or Marines, if he decides he can handle it), and I just don't see what he sees in it.

My brother talks about following me into the Marines and I have to keep reminding him Call of Duty is not accurate to RL. He would do terribly. He hates waking up early and doing anything anyone says and is the most opinionatedly combative person I know.

Seeing him in boot camp would be hilars if it couldn't negatively impact his life!

Yeah, mine's the same way. I think he has potential to be a fantastic serviceman, if he could iron out some of his really, really bad character traits.

My friends all tell me that when I write bitchy letters about how it's so hard in boot camp, they're just gonna send pictures of them laughing and saying "I told ya so!"

I'm scared of the ocean. There's no way I could be on a boat for six months at a time. My youngest sister wants to go the Naval Academy though (she's seven), so we haven't completely let the family down.

My sister wants to be a pilot in the Air Force and then space exploration and is terrified of heights. We'll have to see how that one works out!
