I kinda know what you mean. I associate people/usernames with the icon they use. So if someone has an icon of Aang or something, I'll imagine them to look like that in real life, and then associate it with the username. A few usernames have been ruined for me that way. I feel bad thinking it...

Somtimes I get so incredibly confused and lost when someone changes a long-standing icon.

Me too. I loose track of people when they change their default icon/main icon and get incredibly confused when two or more people have the same default icon.

Some people on a forum used to say they thought I was a guy and looked like Vegeta, by association with my Vegeta avatar.

Which is pretty funny, because I'm some little blue-haired goth chick.

But I tend to be guilty of this sometimes, as well.
