Juxtaposition, yes.
I don't think of female characters like that at all (unless it's part of a specific character's story/personality, but not here... the character in question is pretty but not excessively so, and was on her way to pursuing a career when Shit Happened.*)

*not saying pretty feminine girls can't pursue careers.
