Yeah. That didn't happen.

But yeah, I just didn't have the skillset for it. Applied physics sounds cool and brainy though!

My thoughts on math: I know lots of people (myself included) in science and engineering who worried they were too stupid to do math/would never improve at math/were inherently bad at math, but through hard work many of them (again, myself included) went on to pass their math classes and, in some cases, even pass their math classes at the top of the class. Math is about work and about accepting that it's going to be hard work that's going to take a lot of time and you either fight that or you accept it and do well. If you're willing to work for it, you'll do fine.

For instance - how about planetary science? It still has maths in it, sure, but one of the better routes for planetary science is via geology (or, if astrobiology is your thing, biology), and they have less maths than physics.
As for learning maths, you just need to find the right teachers/tutors. After barely passing tenth grade maths and leaving school for several years, when I went back to finish twelfth grade, I got a high distinction* with help from a tutor :) And now I have a science degree - majoring in, uh, Museum Studies, granted, but I've done astronomy subjects and got high distinctions on all of those, too.
* 85 or above. I scored 88 in maths, and in the astronomy subjects I've done at uni, I've got 86, 89, 91, and 98.
