In Gin's defense, Aizen was a highly respected, highly loved captain in Soul Society before making his big reveal. If he had killed him then, God knows what would have happened to him. He would have gone to jail or been executed or possibly used in some weird experiment knowing Soul Society. In Hueco Muendo Aizen pretty much had all the Arrancar under his palm. Gin might have never gotten a chance to be alone with him to kill him and attacking Aizen with the Arrancar around would likely only get Gin killed. Granted it wasn't a smooth move to attack Aizen when he became the Giant Condom of Death, but they were finally away from Aizen's supporters and, had Gin been able to kill him, he would have been recognized as a hero versus a villain.

A+ Giant Condom of Death

OP

(Anonymous) 2012-07-11 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
He could have killed him in the moment they revealed their betrayal to Soul Society. At that very moment, everyone was against Aizen and he didn't had his arrancars to help him.

Besides that, Gin never really cared about what would happen to him. He wasn't afraid of being executed when he cold blooded killed 46 high-rank shinigamis, or when he murdered a third seat (when he was less than 10 years old), or when he betrayed Shinji and helped Aizen to turn half of Soul Society's captains into hollows. He could have killed him before and made it look like it wasn't him, like in many of his crimes. Aizen's popularity certainly wouldn't be a big step for him if he actually cared that much about his vendetta.

Everyone in Soul Society disliked him. His was everyone's first suspect because he seriously didn't gave a fuck about that place. He didn't had any attachment to Soul Society's moral, you know? Besides that, instead of going on with a very stupid plan, he could have just... said what Aizen was doing to everyone? He was close enough to him to have proof. And Rangiku loved him, she would have certainly believed him. Why he never did it? Why he had to kill a shit load of shinigamis or betray Shinji and the other vizards to do that?

He liked it. It may not be a proof for Aizen/Gin as a ship, but it certainly shows that Gin was a cruel person and was, at least, having fun with all the horrible things Aizen was doing.

Was that room 46 or whatever it was called that ran Soul Society? I was always under the impression he did that because he knew he wouldn't get caught since nobody entered that room until things got too suspicious.

Also what proof did he have against Aizen? If everyone disliked him but loved Aizen, they would have just said he was making stuff up. I can't recall what proof Aizen left behind that would be enough to incriminate him without a reasonable doubt.

With that being said I really liked Gin through most of the series when he was such a gray character. I was disappointed when they revealed his whole vendetta had been based around revenge. It was too black and white based on Gin's character up to that point.

He could have simply chose not to help him at all. His plan, if it was supposed to be helpful to Rangiku, made no sense.

I mean, Gin not only stood there watching, he did everything to make Aizen's plan become real. Besides, if he had any love for her, why did he chose to barely contact or care for her? She could have died in the fights - he didn't even blinked.

In this case, I have to agree with the OP. Any excuse sounds forced to me. I think Kubo merely tried to make him a hero, when... He's not.

As you said down there to OP, I liked Gin as a gray character. I really can't accept that revenge bullshit because a)it doesn't makes sense, b) makes him such a shallow character.

Yeah, I stopped reading Bleach a loooooooong time ago, but I heard about Gin's final stand and I thought "...really?" I preferred it when I thought he was doing his own thing because he just didn't give a fuck (even if he had a soft spot for Rangiku).

I still don't consider it. It can be interpreted like that, imo. Like OP said, I mean, and I chose to see it that way so he wouldn't become such a bland character. Otherwise, all my love for Gin would be gone, because he would be another generic character and his plot would make no sense at all.

Bleach is pretty good right now, though. It's the first time in ages I'm actually liking it.
