I've only seen A/V trailers. The polyamory angle intrigues the hell out of me but I'm not sure I could take the violence.

IA...polyamory is one of my favorite things, and it seems like Savages might do it in a way that works and isn't a mockery...but the levels of violence are just too much for me. Also, apparently the girlfriend, O, gets raped and brutalized pretty badly, and I am not interested in that at all.

I can only speak for the book, but there the relationship between the three of them really is the driving force of the story and makes it well worth the read. (Not to mention the very hot threesome scene that I really hope made it to the screen).
Now, if I remember correctly, while there's definitely a large amount of violence in the entire story, O does not get raped - if that helps to alleviate that concern.
I'm definitely looking forward to watching it. :D

The OT3 vibe in the trailer intrigued me, but I hear it's not that awesome. I do wanna read the book, however.

The book's kinda amazing. It's a really different writing style, I'm enjoying it a lot. It's hard to put down, haha.

I wanted to see the movie for two reasons: the polyamory and Salma Hayek.
While all of the actors do a great job, the movie just couldn't decide what kind of movie it wanted to be, which character(s) to focus on for more than ten minutes, and it ended up being a disjointed confusing mess. And sometimes the way O talked about polyamory really got me angry.
Which is unfortunate, because the first twenty minutes contain some of the hottest sex scenes I've ever seen.

I'm gonna see it for two reasons: OT3 and Taylor Kitsch. I'm almost certainly going to be offended. I don't care.

Those sound bites? Got stuck in my head SO much that, since I can't go to EVERY movie I wanna see this summer, I went and bought the novel because I was so curious. It's really written in an interesting style. I'm digging it.
