Posting fic on DW?

(Anonymous) 2012-07-10 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I am a fairly prolific writer who has a DW but hasn't posted anything. Is it worth archiving my stuff here or at the very least promoting my writing here? Multiple fandoms and pairings, no particular leanings, but I'm such a newb to this website/culture ;_;

I moved my fic journal to DW a while back. I get the fewest reviews here, but I also go the fewest on LJ. I would recommend posting to at least one major archive as well as here (AO3, FF.N...).

That being said, I feel like it's worth it. I've gotten good feedback, and I think a few more recs on some of my recent postings here than I have on other sites (though I have not tried to do any in-depth examination of that). Plus, it's just nice to have a place to archive all this stuff in case one of the major archives goes down/gets weird about rules/other fandom catastrophe.

Worth it, if only because the size limit is so much larger than LJ (admittedly, mostly useful for my masterlist, but whatever). It does or did import weird into AO3, though. All my italics became new paragraphs.

As for promoting--the DW community is still weaker than LJ, but there's a good amount of healthy multi-fandom sites for reccing and bingos.

I crosspost all my entries, so posting to both DW and LJ is pretty simple for the most part. It doesn't really inconvenience me. I don't usually get reviews on DW, but it's nice to have another online backup of my work and have my stuff on there for people who do tend to read stuff on DW more.

If you have the time, it doesn't hurt in the least.
