I'm into D/s fic, and one of the things I like about it is that the characters decide their roles and trust each other in them.

I want to be able to love D/s, but it seems for every such fic I find that emphasizes choice and trust and informed consent, there's fifty more emphasizing force and violence and dubious consent. Not that there's anything wrong with that kink, but I feel lonely in my preference for strong people who submit just because they like to.

I have the same issue. I hate when I see something labeled as D/s or BDSM when it's really about sex slaves. "Strong people who submit just because they like to" pretty much sums up my interest in D/s. Subs are too often seen as weak, but I think it's very much the opposite.

I know what you mean. I think there's definitely a dynamic in some IRL D/s that thrives on the fantasy of non-consent, and so fics where there is actual non-consent hits that kink. But that is not the entirety of D/s play or fantasies, nowhere near!

if more D/s fic was like this, i would read the hell out of it.
i guess i just really love the psychological aspect of it.
