Bento food is USUALLY healthier for you and delicious.

Good God, where is this true? 99% of bento here come with either a piece of fried chicken or a hot dog.

when I said usually I meant aside from fried chicken which is why I said that other than always.

But quick google search turns this up (http://www.everydayhealth.com/weight/bento-box.aspx)
and basically it's because of portion control (if you have fried chicken/hot dog you're not having THAT much), healthier stuff, it's typically more balanced, etc.

Portion control, yes. Healthier food in the box itself... depends on what you're putting in it, but a lot of standard bento additions ain't all that healthy, no.

In my area of the world I would say they are more healthier, for sure. Never saw one with hotdogs or fried chicken, but then again if you are in America I would not be surprised by this at all.
