I bet he's also super sweet and charming when he wants to be, too. The thing that most people won't tell you about abusive relationships is that there is often real, genuine love between both parties. That doesn't mean it isn't dangerous as hell, though.

Please, please, get away from this guy. How someone treats others -- even with excuses, *especially* with excuses, like "I was protecting you!" -- is still indicative of how they may one day treat you. It's a warning that those who are beneath this guy are, in some way, worthy of being hurt.* And one day, he might decide you are beneath him, and therefore worthy of being hurt. Please don't be around when he decides that. Get out, and get out now. Do it before he hurts you, and you'll probably beat the odds.


* I want to be clear that I'm using the way abusive people think when I write "worthy of being hurt," not because I think anyone, ever, is "worthy" of being hurt.
