Interacting doesn't equal instant friendship.

I agree with the anon above that there was not enough meaningful interaction between the main players. Thor and Cap (and Clint, for more excusable reasons) suffered the most for it. I'd have gladly traded one minute from the last battle for more chatting. In fact, I like the chatless shawarma scene more than most of that battle, and I live for Summer blockbuster action.

YES. That is exactly what I meant. What does Thor think of Natasha? How does Natasha feel about sharing a team with Tony and what's he thinking when he sees her in action? What are everyone's thoughts on Clint showing up? What were Tony and Thor thinking when they were randomly beating the crap out of each other? How does Steve feel about having a god-alien on the team? I don't know and neither do you!

I mean, I know it's an action movie, and they can't just have everyone stand around pontificating for 2 hours. But this isn't just "there weren't enough heart-to-heart chats!" this is like "I don't think some of these dudes know each others' names".

da I think, for an action film, there was a lot of nuanced interaction. Bit of a gender cliche, but there's been grumbling from fanboys about too much talking, and from some fangirls about too much action. I think overall it was balanced to appeal to a number of tastes.

The mostly-female side of fandom can be over here, filling in the gaps with fic :-)

Well, I don't know what they were expecting. Superhero comics were founded on both of those things. In large quantities.

I find it hard to believe that so many fanboys would be complaining about dialogue when so much of it is Robert Downey Jr. saying funny things and fuckin everyone loves Robert Downey Jr. Plus they presumably read comics to start with.

You'd be surprised at how many people only want to hear dialogue in the form of lame one-liners in the middle of blowing shit up. And reports of RDJ's popularity in the ultra-juvenile mindless mouth-breathing fanboy circuit are greatly exaggerated by them tumblr fans:

I know this is days and days too late to the conversation, but I laughed out loud at this. So hard. (Everything Bendis writes is pages and pages of nothing but talking heads...)

i thought i was the only one who felt that way, but yeah. that's why i think doing late additional shooting for that extra-credit shawarma scene was an excellent call. the movie needed that, because there was nothing personal (with the exception of tony and bruce) about the ending where they all go on their merry, completely different ways. nothing to indicate those people will eventually bond outside of the battlefield as well.
