...But that's not what I said. I'm sorry to have upset you, and I am genuinely sad that I did so. I understand if you don't want to carry on, and that's okay. I think you've conflated biologically-female with identifies-as-a-woman and wrong-and-bad with wrong-medically. I had no intention of getting any of those things mixed up in my posts and I'm sorry if I was unclear.

I hope this is helpful and not just rambly because I really am trying to explain where I'm coming from.

FWIW, This is where your comment first hit a wrong note for me: "Only omegas can become pregnant in this verse, making them, in effect, the stand-in for women as a group (since IRL, you're not going to be getting pregnant if you aren't biologically female)."

"Women as a group", in that sentence, is equated to "biologically female". And while that is true the majority of the time in the real world, it's not universally true, and one of the things I like about omegaverse fics is that they can detach the idea of pregnancy from the idea of womanhood (which most other mpreg doesn't, IME, since it tends to be set in the "real world" just with added male pregnancy). You've got characters with a biological imperative to bear children that can cross gender lines, instead of being just a way for men to subjugate women. Not all of them do this, and there is a lot of gross sexist and misogynistic shit that happens in omegaverse fic, but I read primarily in SPN, where you can find that anywhere if you're not reading writers you trust.

The repetition of "pregnancy is as natural as breathing" also really bothered me. I like detaching pregnancy from womanhood in fic because so often womanhood is too closely connected to childbearing in the real world. I get told a lot that in order to be a "real woman" I must have or want to have children because pregnancy is healthy/normal/as natural as breathing. And that's a damaging attitude for women who can't or don't want to have children. It's a damaging attitude to perfectly healthy women who have miscarriages, which can happen even under the best circumstances. Carrying a child to term is work, and it's work women don't get a lot of credit for because pregnancy is seen as "as natural as breathing" even though it is much, much harder than breathing. (And miscarrying is also natural, and not getting pregnant is also natural, and having hormonal ebbs and flows over the course of your reproductive lifespan is not a sign of something medically wrong.)

So that's what bothered me in your comments, and it's really not relevant to omegaverse fic except tangentially. I have a much bigger stake in not wanting women to feel othered for any of their reproductive choices or issues than I do in omegaverse fic. Does that make sense? Obviously, like any other opinion on the internet, this is colored by my experiences.
