(Anonymous) 2012-07-15 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)And I can't see Tony reacting to someone who would dare give those excuses — the excuses Tony completely rejected as cowardly complacency in that first press conference, and when he became Iron Man — with anything other than absolute horror, fury and revulsion.
Thor? Definitely sympathizes with Loki, and I don't blame him for it at all. It's his little brother after all. Steve? Bruce? Maybe. Natasha? Probably. Clint? No way, but that's more personal than anything. Tony? NEVER.
Also his name was Phil.

Also, really? You have an issue with me using his title instead of his first name? It's a matter of taste and I feel he earned every letter in that Agent. And there are definitely people who blank on Phil but get Agent Coulson.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-15 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)No! No no no, I swear I do not have any issue whatsoever with you calling him Coulson! I was just quoting Tony's line from the movie when he flies back up and blasts Loki in the tower after being chucked out the window :) I just wanted to quote that line to show why Tony is so not going to forgive Loki for killing Coulson. I did not in any way mean to imply that calling him "Coulson" is a bad thing at all. Hell, I called him "Coulson" in my secret.
And oh, I must've missed your meaning in your comment. I thought you meant that Tony would hate Loki because he's exactly like him or something. :( Sorry!

I didn't really put enough thought into my comment. On a reread I'm like "Where was I going with this?" I mostly meant that Loki's failings would probably hit close to home for Tony and def. not be attractive qualities in a partner seeing as he's spent so much time overcoming his perceived shortcomings. I hope that's clearer?

Even if you take out any shipping context, Loki compromised Hawkeye and killed Phil. Both are men that she's canonically shown as being close to in some way or form.
There's absolutely no way Natasha would go for that sort of situation... unless she thought it was a viable way to get close enough to put him out of commission anyway.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-15 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)Natasha I can see "empathizing" with Loki in the sense of "knowing what he feels like", but still absolutely despising him. I can see her reasoning that "hey, I used to be a cold-blooded murderer but I stopped" hence the maybe.
Steve and Bruce are such nice guys I think they'd be the most open after Thor to giving Loki a second chance, plus they didn't know Coulson like Clint and Natasha or even Tony did.

Natasha was being brainwashed since early childhood into becoming a cold-blooded killing machine. I really can't see her empathizing with Loki here.

Though honestly I have a hard time wrapping my mind around reformed and Loki in the same sentence so that might be affecting my outlook on the concept as a whole.
I also think that nice guy doesn't mean push over either, so while they might give a grudging second chance, I think even they'd be likely to have reservations on the matter.
