Oh, absolutely! I've done a pitbull post before for much the same reasoning- they do deserve more positive attention, and kittens are cute but there are definitely benefits to adopting a more mature animal. You can bet that there'll be a few lovely black cats in there as well. It's a shame, but adult black cats (black / brown dogs, too) usually have a hard time finding families since most people tend to prefer the more colourful babies. Any animal having a good home is a great thing, of course, but it'd be nice if they could all get the love they deserve.

As someone who has a black cat and has had others in the past, agreed. I may have a positive bias towards them due to her, she's snuggly and precious and absolutely pretty (silky black fur and bright green eyes and is as lively and healthy as a one-year-old - at nine and a half). Love the black cats!

I have a black cat myself, and have had two others over the years. They are the most sweet-tempered cats I have ever met. They really should be taken home more often. Bombay cats, for example, are specifically known to be very good with children. Thank you in advance for including them!!!

The best, friendliest animals I ever lived with were all dark (brown, black, or mix) so if I were to look for another pet I'd go for the black or brown ones first. I mentioned this to an animal-rescue person once and they were so surprised - apparently the dark ones are hardest to adopt anywhere and at any time, and more often than not they're the ones who get euthanized or labeled as unadoptable.

So yes, more love for black and brown cats and dogs!
