I kinda want to watch it, but I've seen so many people who are like "ITS SO TERRIBLE SINCE ONE(?) OF THE LEADS IS CONSERVATIVE IT RUINED THE SHOW FOR ME AND THEY'LL NEVER BE CANON BECAUSE OF THAT WAAAAAAHHH" I want nothing to do with the fandom.

That's the horrible part of the fandom. Honestly, it's a pretty decent show, it's amazing, but I find myself really invested and enjoying it a lot. Just.. stay away from lj, the tumblr fandom is less full of rage and more fun.

I've seen that attitude so much on some comms(typically ONTD-type ones) that I would never, ever touch the LJ fandom. But I hear that Tumblr has kinda become a cool place for under-appreciated shows to develop fandoms.

Also, your icon is awesome and I love it forever and ever.

Yeah, that's what I hate about the community on lj. Yes, angie harmon is likely to go the regan/schwazennager route and go become a republican politician after her career as an actress is over. On the other hand, most of her conservative sticking points are 2nd ammendment, social safety net, etc issues and not being anti-gay-rights. So there is a chance her own political hangups won't rule out them writing them into a couple.

The one thing a lot of the fandom forgets too is that subtexty relationships becoming canon always ends so well. See: moonlighting, x-files, remington steele, torchwood...

The fandom on ff.net are actually some good people who are nothing but supportive, and honestly the fic there is better than the fic on lj.

Yeah, it pisses me off when people assume that conservative ideas = against gay rights or women's rights. A lot of actors/actresses/writers/etc. who are conservative-minded are still very liberal when it comes to social issues like those. I have conservative-leaning views on a lot of things, but I classify myself as independent, because I support equality and doing what you feel is right for yourself. And I have lots of thoughts about free speech that don't fit in either side's mold. You can't throw everyone who is religious or politically conservative into the same box and label them all the same thing any more than you can label another vastly diverse group of people the same thing. But, it's so ingrained in the media and fandom that politics = bad and conservatives = evol that it's okay to group the bad people together, 'cause they're all bad!

That too! Subtext made text is so rarely well done in media that whining about it for a reason like that should be low-priority. But, yeah, you know what I mean.

I was in a fandom a year or so back and it was in a similar situation; the LJ fandom was dead, but ff.net was thriving, and I loved it.
