Yeah this...but...I think it's ridiculous to think that people will care enough to devote that much energy to your work at all. If you're lucky you'll sometimes write something that a lot of people really love. If you're extremely, wildly unlucky you may end up writing something that a lot of people hate, but is very rare considering how much fic fandom produces - I hear about maybe three fic wank blowouts every year, while thousands and thousands of people are out there posting fic.

Trufax, no one cares about your word choice and your plotlines as much as you do. No one ever will. That's why you're scared, because it matters to you, and we all know that the most common bad outcome by far is the ~~crickets~~ of people ignoring your oneshot because there's nothing in it that the reader cares about. And that's really not so scary. So write, why don't you? You are the person who has to care about this process to make it happen, not anyone else.

That too. At best, the worst reaction they'll get is a back-button, and perhaps someone mentioning elsewhere, off-hand, about things they don't like to see when they read.

(For some reason I read the secret as though OP already had gotten dogpiled with concrit or abuse.)

Given that so many different issues got mentioned in the secret I read it as a sum of many wanks that the secret-maker had vicariously stressed over, rather than an incident that had happened to them personally. I guess it could have been that they were just avoiding associating the secret with a specific dogpile in order to conceal their identity, but it didn't feel like that to me.
