Okay, Steve/Tony is actually my slash OTP to top all slash OTPs in the entire Marvel universe (only in the comics, not at all in the movie)....but IA so hard. Some sincerely argue that Civil War was totally worth it solely because of the shippy angst in The Confession. And it's like if you write them as just friends, they become so deeply offended they will call it OOC with a perfectly straight face. Like, part of the reason I ship them so much is because they've been friends for so long, but noooo, Tony totally fell in love with Steve the minute he thawed him out of the ice, and if you don't agree you're a character-bashing homophobic troglodyte shallow fanboy who only cares about seeing explosions and half-naked women.

I'm not going to even touch how it's handled in the movieverse.

I've seen some Steve/Tony shippers get deeply offended at the idea that prompts or fics can be not Steve/Tony and almost demand that the pairing is added even if the prompt says Gen or Tony/Other and Steve/Other and I wonder why? I mean, there's a lot of Steve/Tony out there, and there are still tons of Steve/Tony prompts! They're the most popular slash ship in the MCU (And I think in the MU) so... why can't they play nice with the others?
