ah, I sympathize, op. every year, for as long as i can remember, on Christmas Eve my brothers and I slept in the same room and watched movies all night. My brother and his fiance bought a house this past year, and I cried uncontrollably when I realized we wouldn't be doing it anymore.

but my younger brother and I ended up driving to his place anyway because we have an unhealthy reliance on each other and didn't want to give up tradition. I'm sure my brother's fiance was thrilled haha

I cried all the way home from my brothers wedding (he lived with us until then, and we were very close; always playing video games together and watching anime or movies). I totes understand this. It's good that you still got to spend time with him! (Was he happy? I bet he was!)

ah, i totally understand. we helped them move in and the minute i got home, i cried haha. he was happy, contrary to the other anon opinions. the 'im sure his fiance was pleased' was a joke. we are all very close and her brother spent the night too. it was like starting a new, if similar, tradition.

I assumed the comment about his fiance was a joke. Really people, what happened to jumping to conclusions and making assumptions about people? You never said he didn't invite you, and since he did he clearly wanted you there. It's great that you got to start a new tradition!

Nice of you to intrude on their first Christmas together in their new house. Get over yourself and grow up.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-18 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
hahaha he invited us, actually. and no, i never mentioned i was going to miss doing it, so it wasnt out of guilt. he actually had to convince us to come. shocking as this may seem to you, some people actually like their siblings and enjoy their company.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-18 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
you obviously don't have siblings you're close with. not only is what she did totally understandable, no big brother would ever mind that. i'm married but no one will ever replace my brothers or my sister, and i want them all close to me on christmas.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-18 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
You're obviously the same person but, just for the record, I love my sister dearly and definitely want to be with her on Christmas. I would not, however, have wanted her to sleep over on Christmas Eve the first year my now-husband and I were together in our new house. There's a difference.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-18 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
not the same person, and wow, you're a bad person.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-23 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
I'm actually a pretty great person. :D

(Anonymous) 2012-07-19 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
that anon was not the same person (although I do appreciate their support) it's fine that you wouldn't want your siblings with your husband at your new house. but my brother and his fiance did. we came, as did her younger brother. we watched the big lebowski and ate chips and dip. that's our christmas tradition, and just because it doesn't line up with yours, doesn't make it wrong. we spent it with our family. my understanding is, that's a pretty normal.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-18 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
What a selfish ass you are.

(Anonymous) 2012-07-18 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
as i told the other anon, he invited us. i didn't just show up at his house. nor did i try and guilt trip him into inviting us. and it's not like we spoiled his christmas morning, we (my younger brother and i, that is) left at like 6am. my brother's fiance had her sibling over as well. so it was like our own new tradition at their house.
