You're right. Now, the question is, what can be done in order to make it ("open the field to all actors") happen? Somehow I don't think that fans on the internet beating each other to pulp over it while studios continue the way they always did will acheieve anything.

YELLING ON THE INTERNET ALWAYS GETS WHAT YOU WANT DIDN'T YOU KNOW THAT

...no, but, seriously, Hollywood needs to get its shit together and do more color-blind casting. I hate to admit it, but Grey's Anatomy/Shonda Rhimes' other shows are kinda the only ones getting it right out there. It's not casting all whites and it's not throwing a few token minorities in there in a patronizing way, it's just actually picking the best actors and then tweaking the characters accordingly, if needed. I feel like that's the best way to go. But alas.
