My memory of the movie is a bit muddled from the mess in Aurora (I live not too far from there), but I thought it was way too long. The pacing was really slow to the point of being boring at points, and I didn't end up appreciating it the way you said you did at the end. I was just kind of glad the whole thing was finally moving forward.

I also remember some of the dialogue being odd, like, enough out of place that it drew me out of the film, and the sound editing for Hardy's voice was strange (I don't know if this was just my theatre, but for the most part his voice was louder than everyone else's). I did like the way he portrayed Bane, though. Cotillard was fantastic, I was fairly impressed with Hathaway, and I liked the ending. Everything came full circle.

I won't see it again.

Yeah, I REALLY didn't like the way Hardy's voice was handled - I think it detracted from the character a lot to have his voice essentially projecting ambiently from a speaker. It robbed him of a lot of the power to project. I could honestly have done with subtitles most of the time, and one of the people I saw it with was started hoping that the DVD will have a mode that lets you use subtitles for Hardy only.

While obv there were reasons the beginning moved slowly, yeah, it did NOT have to be as much of a drag as it was. Like, the entire Foley plotline could have been junked imo. He didn't DO anything except provide a too-easy foil for Blake, and Blake showed more than enough character elsewhere.

I haven't seen the movie so I can't comment on it (but I have no plans on seeing either so spoiler away!) but if I remember right Bane's voice is louder because in the initial preview of it to an audience the main complaint was that you couldn't hear him or if you could it was all muddled from his mask-thing. So when it premiered in actual theaters they went back and increased the volume of just his dialoged to compensate.

What I had hear was that they went and had Hardy re-record the lines (though muffled, of course, to retain the sound of him speaking through a mask). I then assumed that the new recording simply had crappy editing that had him sound like his voice was constantly coming from a loudspeaker, but I could be very wrong about all that. A lot of the characters were kind of hard to understand, though (they mumbled a lot), and I think that might have been due to speaker problems at my theatre.

Well that definitely sounds like a movie I'll have to wait for DVDs so I can watch with closed captioning. I usually hear about 80% of the duologue (more or less depending on the character) so I use captioning to make sure I get everything, but for this character it sound like I won't be able to understand him at all if I can't see his mouth and his voice is muffled.

I was wondering about that. His voice was driving me up a fucking wall because I just wanted to laugh at it.
