Re: so let's talk about Batman TDKR
I was so looking forward to this movie and overall it didn't disappoint. It def had it's issues; the pacing wasn't perfect and some parts were more exciting than others, but overall I thought it was an epic movie and I love the scale of it and the tale of what Gotham went through.
It was pretty damn gritty and there were parts that were hard for me to watch (Bruce getting his back broken and what he went through after, then having to 'rise' out of the prison - I was almost biting my nails in worry despite the fact that he couldn't die yet) but I just wanted Bruce to pull himself out of his slump and succeed so badly.
And ROBIN, arg JGL is fantastic and such a likable dude in films - I adored every scene with him. (So cute! So capable! Such an endearing personality! I'd watch the hell out of a movie with him as Batman/Robin/Nightwing/whatever.)
A good many of my favorite scenes where with Alfred though. Michael Cain always gets me. I was really upset when he left because I wanted MOAR but then he returned at the end and broke my damn heart by asking for The Wayne's forgiveness. D: (Also his story about Bruce and the cafe? Wonderful.)
I actually really love Bale as Batman too (maybe more when outside the suit), even if his Batman voice is hilarious at times.
And I want to marry Anne - simple as that. She was so much better than I ever would've imagined, and after the trailers I expected good things! She was incredibly fun and so very sexy and totally the highlight of the movie for me. Wish there was more of her!
Everyone had good moments imo - Gordon, Fox, even Crane!
Hardy's voice was distracting at first but I can sympathize with the difficulties that must've taken place trying to act with the mask and I understand why they upped the audio. Eventually I got used to it and I liked his accent as well; glad he didn't just go gruff like Batman. He didn't carry the movie like Joker did but he did a good job on his own right, and the movie as a whole was a good way to end the trilogy. The ending pleased me so much! I'm shipping Bats/Cats pretty hard and love the idea of Robin stepping up and protecting Gotham.
I want fanfic now but I know it can't exist yet and there's never been much of it for the movies so idk if that'll change. If it does, it'll probably be Batman/Robin anyway. Oh wells. Maybe I should read fic about the comic versions...Re: so let's talk about Batman TDKR
I share your feelings on scale. It wasn't always 100% believable (a five-month siege on a coastal city? Okay then.) but it was wonderful. The winter outdoor shots seemed so atmospheric to me. And Bruce in the jail was where I really started feeling it - well, maybe right before then when Bane stole his armoury. aw, bat ;____;
aw, I notice that you mention just about everyone except Marion Cotillard... XD Sorry, crush here. I liked Caine but I wondered if he was getting OTT weepy. Will have to decide on future viewings. The Florence story was adorable, but I'd think Bruce was an asshole if he just left it at that and didn't even write a damn letter sometimes.
Crane was awesome! I loved his courthouse. JGL was amazing but I thought they wasted too much time on the Foley subplot, which really never went anywhere.
I'd love a Nightwing movie if it was by Nolan...not sure I trust anyone else with JGL's Robin, lol. It'd still be fun, I guess.

Yea, it didn't have to be completely believable for me to enjoy it. I do like the bits of realism in the nolanverse but at the same time a lot of the stuff is pretty spectacular regardless so I could accept that. The winter shots were gorgeous. I loved the look of Gotham throughout the movie actually, and Bruce in jail was one of the parts that hit hardest for me. It really did start to pick up then.
Marion is basically a flawless human being (gorgeous yes, and a wonderful actress) but I wasn't sure what to say about her. Her identity was obvious to me and from the little experience I have with the Batverse outside of the movies I'm not a fan of Talia. I also don't think they utilized her well, but she did do good with what she was given.
See, IDK how long Florence was set in the future. I like to think Bruce would've eventually told (at least) Alfred he was alive. And really...what are the chances that Alfred would come across Bruce and Selina in a cafe like that? I like to think Bruce kept tabs on Alfred and knew he'd be there, and wanted them to meet.
Did your theater enjoy Crane? Everyone was lol'ing when he appeared. I loved it. I didn't care all that much for Foley either.
I wish that Nolan would do a Robin/Nightwing/whatever movie so badly, but I know he's done with the franchise. I'd also really like a Catwoman movie with Anne, but idk when it would be set considering how TDKR ends. Not sure I trust anyone to play in Nolan's universe either, but the idea is a fun one anyway.
