Canon? Not even in the slightest. The closest was Kira helping him go through old files in their base, and even then, it was to give backstory for one of the season's villains. Kira had a crush on one of the other Rangers, too. And a student-teacher relationship on what is effectively a live action Saturday morning cartoon would NEVER fly.
