If she couldn't tell that Tom Cruise was devoted to Scientology, had been divorced twice and was prone to jumping on top of couches before she had his child then I don't have too much sympathy for her.

I doubt she's looking for your sympathy. She saw what it was eventually and she got herself and her child the fuck out. She deserves all the credit for doing that. Because you know? It's never too fucking late to right a bad situation.

How bad do you even know the situation was?

Just because Katie Holmes bailed because she didn't want her daughter to practice a certain religion (that she was well aware of when she got in) hardly means that Cruise was doing anything wrong to her.
