But it's still canon. It still happened. You can still enjoy it as canon. I understand that it sucks to have a ship break up (I ship some canon stuff too) but it's not the end unless you let it be. And generally speaking most people in fandom deeply love the canon material. That would be why they're in the fandom.

I threw fan fic in there because it's part of what a lot of people do with ships and it's a big part of a lot of fandoms. It was an example of fandom activity.
