And I have just one spider picture, today, along with a video! This one's tiny- and I mean it. If you're the type that normally scrolls past quickly or adblocks them, then I'd ask that if you take a look at just one spider pic, then give this one a go. I promise it's not really very scary at all.

Here we go! Now, I'm not too sure what species of jumping spider this is, exactly, but it's not very easy to see, is it? I know most of the pictures that I normally post are macro shots and offer good details on what spiders look like, but they also make the spiders look huge! The spider in this picture is much closer to how large the vast majority of jumping spiders that you might encounter in real life will look to you.

Just a note, though, if ever you intend on investigating them a little closer- jumping spiders are really, really curious. If you put a finger out to them, they will probably inspect it, take up a position like so. If you see a spider doing this and holding very still, it's preparing to jump onto you.

If you've ever wondered how a jumping spider judges the distance of its jumps so accurately, though, this video explains how! Here's an article on it. They're pretty unique in being the only known animals thus far to use a focusing/defocusing system (think of adjusting the lense in a camera to get things sharp at a particular distance and blury in the foreground and background) as their primary means of depth perception. I think it's pretty neat.

I am a little worried about you though if Ke$ha is the representation of your personality...

I don't think a patronus has to be representative of your personality, isn't it just something you think will protect you?

I think I remember the book indicating that the patronus reflected the personality of the caster or very deep feelings they have (like how Snape's was a doe, because of his love for Lily). The patronus could also change when the caster has been through great emotional trouble (like how Tonks' patronus changed to a werewolf). I think the animagus character's partonuses were also the same as their animal form. Their animagus form itself seemed to reflect their inner nature as well

So what is the difference between patronus and a daemon?

because I thought my daemon would be a bower bird so I'm unimaginative in assuming so would my patronus.

but if it's something we think will protect us, idk, something big and scary with loads of teeth that every one else's patronus would run for.

A Patronus is the physical manifestation of your happiest thoughts and memories. For Harry, it's his parents (the knowledge that they died protecting him, the memories and moments they never got to share, knowing he was loved), and for Snape, it's Lily, one of the few people who ever truly cared for him.

So basically whatever makes you most happy will give your Patronus shape! It's impossible for a Dementor to be a Patronus's shape not only because they feed on despair, but because they are the natural antithesis of a Patronus in the first place. Nothing makes me happier than flying trapeze, for instance, so I feel like my Patronus would be a swallow or some other small kind of bird. Think of it that way and something might come to you.

A daemon is more like an Animagus form, which is effectively your personality but in animal representation.

Huh. Well shit, my patronus would probably be a bunny then. Intimidating, hah!

I'd like to think my patronus would be an okapi. I've always loved them for their uniqueness and looking like they're kind of a mix of everything. I don't know but I think it would suit me.

My patronus would be one of the corvids. If you'd asked me several years ago, I'd've told you it would be a raven, but I'm getting more and more convinced that it would actually be a blue jay.

Because the idea of Dementors flailing at bees makes me laugh and that awesome feeling could feed into my inner well of Positive Patronus Feelings, thus making my Patronus STRONGER THE LONGER IT'S OUT. O_O

Totes reminded me of the time I gabbed loudly about my shit day to my friends in a vegan restaurant, not knowing that all the while Rachel McAdams was standing behind me, waiting for her food at the counter. Luckily, she forgot to pick up her plastic utensils and sent Michael Sheen in to fetch them. I got to oggle him instead, yay!

Ah, a beard of bees makes more sense. I wondered what a bear of bees was. In some ways it's quite horrifying - bees with a strong enough hive mind to make their swarm look and act like a bear? No thanks. No thanks to a beard of bees either. I already have enough trouble untangling my tentacles. Add bees to the mix, a pleasant image doth not make :P
