See I don't get what the fuss is about.

It's stylized. It is stylized art.

Are people saying the males in WoW are realistic? Because they're totally not, half of them look like bricks with muscles on them. Why should the women suddenly also be realistic?

The women should ALSO look like muscled bricks.

Then the same people would complain that they look like men.

I don't care what they look like but arguing that they don't look like "real" people when nobody looks like "real" people is dumb.

I don't think the same people WOULD make that complaint. In fact, I've only ever seen people complain about people complaining about women who look like men. I would appreciate examples of real cases where women were made to look like men and people complained about it. It's something I want more references for.

Thank you. I appreciate the example. I'm not into Dragon Age, so I never heard of this. I think she's good-looking, now that I've checked.

Mostly, I resent the idea that "the same people" are unpleasable. Internet shouting all tends to sound the same. That doesn't mean it IS the same.

It's essentially the same debate as superheroes. There's definitely an important point to be made about it, but a realism argument misses it.

Uh, this was meant to be in response to the "stylised art" comment.

in general i don't have a problem with stylization at all, but the sexualization of women in comics bothers me. it's not even really a feminism thing, cause it would bother me if they sexualized men also. it's just crude and obvious. i mean, i don't read them anyway, because i think the art is pretty much with few exceptions ugly and the writing doesn't appeal to me, but just in principal, it bothers me. i have two brothers who read comics who feel the same as i do about it, and i'm really surprised that so many people enjoy it.

I feel the same way. I like graphic novels and webcomics, but superhero comics, for the most part, bother the ever-living hell out of me.

For the most part, yeah. The blood elf and the gnome might be pushing it a little.

Holy shit. When you see them all side by side like that...it's not that their figures are unrealistic women, to me, it's that they're all the same kind of woman. The gigantic bull female and the super tiny female with the pigtails from the top alike have narrow shoulders, round breasts, full hips, and tiny waists, it's hysterical. Not into the game, so I don't know if all those creatures are simply subspecies of human and can therefore interbreed, or if this is just a more egregious example of the tendency to make human secondary sexual characteristics universal across completely incompatible bipedal species, but from an aesthetic angle, it seems kinda awkward to me. They could have at least downgraded the tits and flowing hair on at least half of them.

They are not all subspecies of human. In alpha, there was significantly more body type variation in the female models (Taurens didn't have breasts, Troll women were hunched and super-gangly like the male Trolls), but users complained that the female models were ugly, so they got changed. Similarly, the Blood Elf males were initially more waifish, but the beta testers for that release complained that they looked too girly, so the models were bulked up for release.
