Bishounen Ducks Leafie a hen into the wild

Let me start of saying the animation was very well done, and beautiful. I recently saw this mentioned on Tumblr, and looked it up to watch. I keep seeing it recced as a "Family film people of all ages can enjoy!" And then a record scratches and all I can think is..."What..??"

/Spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it.

This movie is terribly depressing. It's as if you took Watership Down, had one character that gets basically no breaks, and then instead of a sort of happy ending, it ends with them being eaten. I'm in my early twenties and this movie just left me feeling so emotionally drained, I honestly don't think this movie should be shown to children. Or at the very least children who can handle the material.

It's just one depressing and dark turn after another. It's a very raw movie. But if you aren't affected by really tearjerking movies, then I'd totally rec it. But be warned.
